Breast cancer is a cancer that develops from breast
tissue. Breast cancer usually start off in the inner lining of milk
ducts or the lobules that supply them with milk. In cancer, the cells
multiply
uncontrollably, and there are too many cells, progressively
more and more than there should be. Cancer that begins in the
lactiferous duct (Milk duct), known as dual carcinoma, and it is the
most common type. Symptoms is only felt by the patient, and is described
to the doctor or nurse, such as headache or pain. Sign is something the
patient and other can detect. For example, rash or swelling. Signs of
breast cancer may include - A lump in the breast
- A change in breast shape
- A fluid coming from the nipple
- A dimpling of the skin.
In those with
distant spread of the disease
- There may be bone pain
- Shortness of breath
- Yellow skin.
Risk factor of developing breast cancer include
- Obesity
- Being female
- Lack of physical exercise
- Drinking alcohol.
The causes of breast cancer are yet to be known, although a number of
risk factor have been identified which are stated above. Breast cancer
is diagnosed during a physical exam, by self examination of the breast,
mammography, ultra sound testing, and biopsy. The treatment of breast
cancer depend on the type of cancer and its stages (1-4) and many
involve surgery, radiation or chemotherapy. The majority of breast
cancer are not hereditary.
