Asthma is a chronic disease involving the airways in
the lungs. It is a long term inflammatory disease of the airways of the
lungs. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, shortness
of breath. If a patient has asthma, the airways are
inflamed. They even
become more swollen and the muscle around the airways can tighten when
something trigger your symptom. Some of the symptom are closely related
to physical activities. People with asthma have allergies which is
called allergic asthma. Childhood asthma, 80% of the children develop
asthma before the age of five. Occupational asthma is caused by inhaling
flames, gases, dust or other harmful substance while on the job. Asthma
symptoms can appear at anytime. Asthma is caused by combination of
genetic and enviromental factors. Environmental factor include exposure
to air pollutant and allergens. Asthma has no cure, but symptoms can be
prevented by avoiding triggers, such as allergens and irritants.
